How to Choose the Right Rug Size
A rug anchors a room. Get the size right and the whole space feels intentional; get it wrong and even a beautiful rug looks like an afterthought.
Living room
Ideally, the front legs of your sofa and chairs should rest on the rug. Leave a 30–45 cm border of floor between the rug and the walls to frame the space.
Dining room
Choose a rug large enough that the chairs stay on it even when pulled out — add at least 60 cm beyond the table edge on every side.
Bedroom
A rug should extend 45–60 cm beyond the sides and foot of the bed, so you step onto softness when you wake.
